My wife and I are about to travel to Ho Chi Minh city. Has anyone any experience of purchasing a tv in Vietnam please? If so was it cheaper than purchasing in Australia, are there name brands available and, probably most importantly, is the Vietnamese tv system compatible with Oz?

i guess you could purchase one don't know if it would work or not, but have you through about getting it back home? If your flying you do have weight limits. i would check with my airlines first.

I don't know if a Vn tv is conpatible with australia. What I do know is that they cost about the same as a tv in the US. They run on 220 dc, so as an American, I can't bring one home and expect to watch it.
Name brands are the same.
One last thing, I haven't seen an LCD or even decent plasma in Vn. If you bring one in you'll probably be able to make money selling it.
Cheers

The channels are set for Asia, the plugs to the outlets are not the same.
For what it is worth to transport it back, pay additional luggage overweight fees, Oz customs etc., go to a discount store in your local area or wait for a sale.
