What's the best way to get into Non-Profit work without non-profit work experience but 4 years work experience

I currently have 4 years of online advertising experience but want t o get into more meaningful work in the non-profit industry in San Francisco. What would be the best way to get in the door without the specific experience? What would be good non-profits to look for?

I think you could find a position that you could directly qualify for with a non-profit. If you have advertising experience, consider that marketing or fundraising related that would help a non-profit. Start looking for jobs on career sites in your area that are in your field (marketing, advertising, fundraising) and see what kind of organizations come up. Look them all up and you'll see which ones are non-profit. Find some that have values and causes you are interested in and start there. If you don't have any luck you could try volunteering there a few hours a week as a fundraiser first, and then with that experience under your belt try to apply for these positions. Good luck!
