The story on Karl Rove is that he, president Bush, vice president Cheney, and former press secretary Scott McClellan stated publically that Karl Rove did not discuss the name of Valerie Plame Wilson, a covert CIA operative with any reporters. But Karl Rove's sworn testimony contains details of his discussions with reporters about the agent's identity.
The exposure of this lie by Karl Rove, President Bush, Dick Cheney, and Scott McClellan is what is keeping the story alive. It is also kept alive by the fact that neither Bush, Rove, Cheney or McClellan will explain to the press why they apparently lied to the American People.
Conservatives will scoot around this lie problem and say "someone else was the leak" or "no crime was committed" or "this is old news" or "she was not covert" which of course special prosecutor fitzgerald has publically refuted on two separate occasions. All are distractions from having to explain why the president, vice president, chief of staff of vice president, white house advisor and white house press secretary told the american people something which we now have proof is not true.
