If you can't see the outline through the skirt/dress, and it makes you feel more comfortable, then go ahead! You'll be able to dance freely without worrying about your skirt flying up--more fun, less worry--usually a good thing, right?

It also depends how formal the occasion is.

OMG... ITS NOT. what would be unacceptable is NO underwear or a g string.
thank you for being concerned for yourself and others!
as long as you are not figgiting with it and as long as you are learning the movements then its okay.... after all thats whats important. for a recital or performance its a different story. you dress comfortable to learn the fasion comes later. all others are not prioritizing.

if it's shorter the the dress. if the dress/skirt is shorter, you can buy spankies (kind of like cheerleading underwear). and make sure the color matches. I'm sure it is okay for practicing though.
