Probably.

One of my first jobs (back in 1992) after becoming a certified micro electrician & PC tech was for the PC repair department of a well known national (U.S. & Canada) retailer.

To make a long story short they will milk you for everything they can. The guys who work there are "pushed" to do so & get a lot of heat if they do not generate a "minimal" invoice.

Home PC maintenance (nowadays) is far from rocket science.
In your place I would look in the classifieds for a student or part-timer who does repairs on the side. They have just as much (if not indeed MORE) PC knowlegde than the rookies at Geek Sqad (that's what they are because no true advanced tech will stay there) & will work for half the rate.

Philip T

bypass the geeks. it is especially undemanding. i offered a Linksys and the setting up CD made it extremely painless. I seen the Geek Squad. the shop provided a decreased fee for their provider if I scheduled their setting up provider on the time of purchase. i desperate to objective to do it by using myself. I DID IT! I advise which you get a reimbursement on the setting up. attempt to place in the router on your guy or woman. in case you're actually not useful, call the 800 # interior the router coaching e-e book for help. in case you have not have been given a working router inspite of each and every thing that... return the router back to the shop. Repurchase a similar router and schedule the geeks. That way, you will get the discounted setting up fee with the acquisition-after the actuality. I did might desire to call Linksys for help. i offered a on the spot-g w/booster version 6. That version is old. Linksys had to stroll me for the time of the replace. reliable success!

I would not reccomend using geek squad. my girlfriend recently had them fix just the hinge to her laptop.... turns out for some reason they "accessed" her hard drive and wiped out everything on it. i guess they make you sign a waiver, and according to the manager, the waiver pretty much gives them permission to do whatever they want with your system. not to mention they had the laptop for about a month.... they arent very good for professionals if you ask me.
