When I write my application letter to grad school should I discuss what I may potentially want to write my thesis about or is this overdoing it?

If you are applying to a PhD program, you should certainly mention a possible dissertation topic, since part of the admission process is making sure your research interests match up well with the fields of current faculty.

If you are applying to a Masters program, you could mention it, but it would be best not to go into too much detail, as there is a "vetting" process for thesis proposal and research, and the details of your project will probably change. However, it is definitely a good thing to demonstrate that you have focus. My advice would be to identify your specific subfield of interest, mention your preferred research methodologies, and write about your thesis idea as a potential idea rather than one written in stone.

It might also be a good idea to share your thoughts about this with one of your current professors, and make sure they think the project is feasible at the Masters level. That way you can be more confident that no one on the graduate admission committee will dismiss your project out of hand, and look at your application skeptically as a result.

Best wishes to you!

If it became a writing severe type, i think of that professor would be an appropriate reference. Did the professor get to appreciate YOU properly, as a pupil? Does she or he understand your artwork ethic? out of your 8 weeks in that type, became your ability as a graduate pupil truthfully exhibited to her or him? if so, ask them to do the reference letter. I wager she or he would be in a position to be better than happy to jot down it for you. good good fortune! Grad college is an prolonged haul, even with the undeniable fact that it is properly well worth the attempt.
