A very short answer follows.
The main way in which the feudal system was weakened by the "Black Death", (be it bubonic plague or whatever it was), was the fact that the massive amounts of dead created a severe shortage of workers. The land-owning class, the ones that survived anyway, were forced to pay their workers more. The masses having extra income changed the existing situation where peasants where always on the edge of starvation, totally beholden to whatever noble who's land they happened to be working. This did not end the feudal system to be sure but it was an early, beginning crack...the common worker having more value and power, be it ever so slight.

Feudal system in England:
one king
more Lords, Barons etc
Loads of Knights
Loads and Loads and Loads of serfs/other minions
I
IIIIIIIIII
IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
Serfs were tied to the land, they 'belonged' to the tenant(often a Knight) to all intents and purposes as they could not leave the land he controlled. They were allowed to live on the land in return for working on the knight's land, who in turn had to provide services to someone higher up the pyramid. When the plague killed so many serfs there weren't enough anymore to farm the land etc so their work became valued and tenants began poaching them off one another with promises of better living standards and even wages - they were no longer tied to the land: feudal system undermined. This is a very simplified account but I think it does the trick :p.

Due to the high death levels - and subsequent low levels of workers - peasants became more adept at bargaining for better conditions. IF a noble REALLY wanted the fort built then he would have to pay top dollar otherwise everyone (labourers) would go elsewhere... in essence it was the beginning of the capitalist labour market mechanisms...
