Best type of bird to own as a pet?

What's the best type of bird to own as a pet, and what are the pros and cons of owning it?

a parakeet or fiches the are less messy, quieter,and will talk with a little sticktoitness.

As far as avians for pets go, they are wonderful! In my personal experience, Parakeet's(Budgies in some states and Australia) are perfect! They love to sing, they are fairly energetic, can become great shoulder pets(if you properly train and handle them that is!), need little water unless you wish them to breed and are fairly long-lived. On the flip side of the coin they can be noisy at times, can be frightened easily by fast motions or strangers entering the room, leave little green and white messes everywhere they fly(especially your shoulder!), and are easy prey of cats. Yet despite all this, they are loving, pretty and even comical at times.

A cockatiel. I know several people who have owned cockatiels and have gotten a great deal of enjoyment out of them.

Cockatiels are fairly inexpensive and easy to care for. They can live 20 years and more. They are not great talkers, but can be taught to whistle simple tunes.

A rosella. They are beautiful and come in a combination of bright colors. They are quiet, not screechers. They are not as demanding as some of the other pet species.

it really depends what you want.....do you want to have a bird that will talk and that you can train to sit on your finger and stuff?? or do you want ones that just stay in a cage and look pretty......eaither way do your home work....look on the internet...talk with bird breeders and pet store workers....that way you will know what to expect and what fits into your life....good luck
