The marks are crescent shaped and around both eyes, there also appears to be a small patch on top of the head The other tetras and fish do not appear to be affected. The tank is regularly cleaned. Any help would be most appreciated.

Look very cloely to see if the eye itself is also affected in any way, if so it sounds like a bacterial infection and you should move the affected fish to a treatment tank and treat with maracyn or Maracyn 2. If not it is more likely to be a protozoan infestation and can be trated with Clout or Metronidazole

Sounds like white spot. Most pet stores will have white spot remedies, few drops in the water - read the bottle. If its white spot it will fix it, if its not then it wont hurt any of the fish. Better to be safe than sorry.
