Barbados! Been there 5 times (on my own), going for the 6th time in 6 days with one of my brothers. :)
It has a lot to offer, not just the beaches. ;)
I can suggest places for you to see if you decide to go to Barbados as your choice:
* Atlantis Submarine
* HARRISONS CAVE (#1 attraction)
* ISLAND SAFARI TOURS
Those are the top 3 I can list, but then again, there are more to discover. ;)

If you want peace and quite AND fun you should go to Vieques Island, next to Puerto Rico (where I live!!) Beautiful beaches and great food; the people are lovely and there are a myriad of americans, so in a way you would feel a bit more welcome. If you want you can drop by to Puerto Rico...it's better than Vieques Island, haha; and I assure you that your 14 and 16 year olds will have a much better time in Puerto Rico- there are more things to do and the hotels are a bit better, but Vieques' beaches are spectacular.

I enjoyed both Australia and Ireland. We did take our 18 year old daughter to Ireland.
With kids, you may not want to go out of the country.
