Ok lemmings.... if I have to read Pizza Papalis, Buddies or Shields one more time on the "Best Pizza in Detroit" repeat question, I'm going to throw up. Get some imagination, get some cojones. Or do you all suck down Domino's and Little Ceasar's cardboard when you can't get to one of these three? Sheesh.

Get your *** (three letter word, starts with an A) to Tomatoes Apizza (no mispelling) Grand River, M5, Halsted (link below). Thin crust, old school, Napoli style. Plan on experiencing something different. If your imagination stops at sauce on top of the cheese (Buddy's and Shields for you newbies), just stay away. GET THE WHITE PIZZA. Get a Red with Pepparoni. Just GET SOMETHING AT TOMATOES APIZZA!!!

A good slice of pie on a Friday night can be found at Primo's, 5 mile, west of Haggerty. This stuff won't be written up in the Metro Times, but it is damn good.

Kudo's for Como's. Been there, ate that. (Get the deep dish, don't be tempted to cut your 'wait' and get the regular pie.) But answering Como's is about as bad as answering Papalis, Buddy's or Shields. Gimme Buddy's over Shields. Gimme Papalis, that "all the meats" deep dish with anchovies.

I don't know who won the award... I know Buddy's and Shield's are pretty good. However, in my opinion, the best bang for your buck in Detroit (and perhaps the all around best pizza) is Dolly's. I go to their location on Rochester and Wattles. Yesterday I had a coupon and got a large pepperoni pizza and breadsticks for 6.96! Amazing. I mean the prices are great... They give you coupons everytime you go also. The pizza is really good. The toppings are fresh and you can tell they were cut that day. There is the right amount of sauce on the pizza and you can get free flavored crust. I would highly recommend at least trying Dolly's.

Pizza Papalis without a doubt, it's the best deep-dish I've ever tasted. I've eaten at all the deep-dish pizzerias in Chicago, and none of them are better than Pizza-Papalis. It is expensive though, a large seafood deep-dish, can run about $30. I think the seafood pizza is good, along with spinach pizza. Even the plain cheese is good too.

On the Eastside, it's Mr C's for takeout. Its so good, they don't even have to bring it to your house, you have to go get it! The best one is in Grosse Pointe Farms right by the post office on Mack. The square and round pies are good.

If you want to dine in, then it's Mama Rosa on Mack in Grosse Pointe Park.

Pizza Papalis is becoming a tourist trap...

Como's in Fernddale on Woodward at 9 Mile Road. Its best when the weather is nice and you can sit outside on their patio.

For carryout or delivery I choose Buddys!!!
