"By saying that our leaders are power-drunk chimpanzees, am I in danger of wrecking the morale of our soldiers fighting and dying in the Middle East?" he wrote. "Their morale, like so many bodies, is already shot to pieces. They are being treated, as I never was, like toys a rich kid got for Christmas in December." - Kurt Vonnegut (He is a WW2 Veteran as well)

I have read 10 of his books and all are very good, a very moral and satirical writer. Have any of y'all read his books and if so which ones?

Well, Vonnegutt left ww2 a pacifist, so I suspect his view are more than a little prejudiced.

And how much does he really know about the morale of soldiers in Iraq? Has he spoken to many?

He has the pleasant position of an established writer: "power without responsibility".

At least the "Power-drunk Chimpanzees" can be elected out of office.

In general this has been true for the most part for a long time. Although I generally havent been a fan of Vonnegut. Definitely wouldnt consider him one of the best writers.
