In the 60's my dad wore a suit to work every day. He had a dark blue suit with a skinny black tie. When he was home on the weekends, he would still wear slacks (not jeans), and a dress shirt (open at the collar) with a tee shirt underneath. My mom didn't work, so she wore lots of different things. Again, no jeans, but she would wear what she called "outfits" which consisted of slacks and a top (I remember alot of polyester) that matched either prints or colors.

In my family, the kids were from ages 5 - 17 in 1969. At that time, we mostly wore jeans, tee shirts, and tennis shoes. My sisters sometimes wore loose flannel shirts or halter tops. In my oldest brother's high school graduation photo, he wore a fringed, rawhide western jacket and some wild looking silk shirt with a large print. Most days, we just dressed like kids dressed today, except the jeans were belled at the bottom and they fit low on the hips.

Oh yeah, there were alot of peace signs on clothes, pictures of the earth, and the E that they used as an ecology symbol. I also remember that the yellow smile symbol came out in the late 60's. Some of the more daring older kids wore shirts that said "Nixon Lies!"

Wow! That was a flashback! Thanks for the question!
