There should be plenty of warning given..

There should be facilities providing individuals with "advance & recovery" arrangements if these are necessary for the transition...

For Example:-

Weeky take home pay = £200

Monthly Pay - paid at end of month (4 weeks later) = £1000
an individual ought to be allowed an arrangement of up to £800 - which will then be recovered at a rate of, say, £50 per month

So the Monthly take home pay is £950 per month for the first 16 months!!

It all depends on wear you work. Some places only can afford to give you money monthly and some only offer weekly pay.

Yes.
It usual though for companies to give a reasonable period of notification to allow staff time to adjust.

Decent companies will also allow staff an advance on wages after 3 weeks on the first month or two just to help out as people readjust their own bil paying requirements.

yes they can,but they should offer at least a loan so as to make the transition easier.if you work for a small company with no union then you may have no choice but if you do have a union bring it up with your shop steward or regional officer to raise your concerns.
