depends on your definition of what "asia" is.
If you define Asia in terms of continent - then population is somewhere between 4-4.5 Billion (more then 50% of the global population).

What originated from Asia - Mesopotamian civilization, Hinduism, Confucianism, Shintoism, Buddhism, paper, fireworks, the Great Horde of Ghanghis Khan
