Yesterday, I noticed my power cord for my desktop computer is starting to show so wearing. Question is do I buy any random power cord? Or do I find a power cord that is compatible with the fan? From what I can notice by looking at the computer, the power cord is inserted next to the computer fan. Are these things related or not? I have a power cord that originally came with my desktop computer, but someone I got a second power cord when I took my computer to get serviced a few years ago.

You can use the same cord that came alongwith the comp...alternatively any cord which is similar to the one which you are using presently will do fine...the fan which is located next to the power connector is part of the power supply unit and you need not worry about it...once you have a power cord it will work fine...

All you would need is a standard power cord that normally comes with computers. No special cord is needed.

Walmart has cheap power cords. If you take your cord down there you can match it up if you are not familiar with computer hardware. You can also go to Radioshack (overpriced) or any computer store. Honestly I think walmart is cheapest.

I don't generally ever take them out of the socket on the surge protector. I work on different computers all the time and use the same plug on all sorts of computers. It doesn't matter on DESKTOPS for those of you who talked about there LAPTOPS(no soup for you).
