How do I get my new home stereo system to work?

I have a new Sony home stereo system. I blew a fuse. I replaced the fuse with the correct new fuse . The stereo turns on and all in o.k. for ten seconds then you here a click and the word PROTECTOR flashes on the screen. What am I doing wrong?

What fuse? Power fuse? If so, do you have too much plugged into the receptacles in the back?
