Yeah, that's a bit true with me. I watch almost exclusively in Japanese, except when I get bored enough to watch Reload on E! Wam! (I hated those voices until I came to the realization they are the same voices I have once idolized in shows such as Magic Knight Rayearth and Ruroni Kenshin... I think they suck again after hearing the Japanese voice cast)
I think your bias is a little strong, though. My arguments are more on Manga vs. Anime ("He's Wrath, He's Pride!" "Sloth is a fat ugly dude, She's a hot young woman!" to name two)
My worst anime-only argument was "Mabudachi Trio: Uncles or Granpas?" And that really isn't anything.
Okay, I had one other, but it had nothing to do with translation, it was about which series of Magic Knight Rayearth was better. (I hold that the first it, because Inouva was stronger with no weakness based on the fear of the civilians, yet my opponent thought that the second series was darker.)
I don't really argue about the whole 4 kids issue because my friends are on the same page as me... except for one, but we only see each other once a year.

For me it depends on the anime. Like I personally prefer the english Cowboy Bebop and Trigun over the Japanese. But then I don't really like Bleach in english, so I go with subtitles. And my friend always says "never watch Naruto in english" so yeah its all different. I don't exactly watch a lot of anime though. So yeah.
Almost forgot. Full Metal Alchemist. Will only watch in english cause I can't stand the japanese ones.

I usually watch the original japanese versions, cause:
1. The terrible voiceovers(either its the same monotonous/squeaky/gay voice throughout the anime/ few animes or that they are disgustingly mis-matched(why does Yami Yugi from Yu-Gi-Oh! sound like a wrestler? Hes just a (cute) kid!)
2.It enables me to improve my japanese. ^-^V

I totally agree. I can't watch Bleach or Naruto dubbed in English. What I don't understand is why Fansubs are translated better than actual dvd releases.

I know! lol, I love Fruits Basket but only in the Japanese version! The engish version is horrible! The boys voices especially! even though, when you think about it, most anime is made in the United States.

I know! I hate it when they say something in this version and then another in that version. I hate it more when they dubb voices.....they hire the most weird voice actors.....
like in Howl's Moving Castle...they totally ruined his beautiful japanese voice!

this happens to me. the only good dubs i have ever seen are db/z/gt and fullmetal alchemist.
db/z/gt because in the english funimation dub, goku doesnt sound like a b*tch
fma because the voice actors they cast do actually sound like their japanese counterparts...especially ed
