No. Every family is different, but most parents love all their children equally.

Not really.. it IS true MOST daughters want to have a close relationship with Dad, but that doesn't mean in SPITE of Mom.
Mothers tend to be more tolerant of their sons over daughters, BUT, there are many variables involved that make your assumption impossible to judge as "true". My Dad and I were close because my Mom was always unapproachable. My brother got away with way more than me, but he and my Mom have never been close. I have 1 son, 3 daughters. I treat them all as individuals - showing favoritism appalls me - I would never do that to my kids. Parents who show favoritism are negligent ignorant fools. You need to study up on the psychological scarring favoritism creates NOW - before you have kids. My husbands Mom only likes her kids when they do what she thinks is right - otherwise she treats her boys and girls the same - like they don't exist. Needless to say, I do not let Grandma near my kids -

I wouldn't say that they like them better, but there is a special relationship between mothers and sons, and between fathers and daughters. I was definitely a daddy's girl. I did no wrong according to him, and my brother was a mama's boy. He is 24 and still living at home being taken care of by my mom. I was out when I was 19. Not a better relationship, just a special bond.

I have boys and girls and I don't find this to be true w/ me at all. My oldest daughter is into volleyball and piano and so was I growing up so her and I have alot more in common. My other daughter I had to learn to like soccer and softball. I've never played them because I've never had an interest in them. But if I want a relationship w/ her, I need to take an active part and interest in her life and activities. My girls will always be my girls but my boys I'll lose someday to another woman. So I want to kiss them and hold them close to me everyday knowing that someday, they'll be gone.

I think there is less basic tension between other-sex relatives.
A person is forming part of their own identity with their same-sex parent, for example, and that is a more complex, emotional thing than just loving the other person.
There's probably some biology in there, too - most straight people are naturally interested in the other sex and are drawn to be nice, flatter, spend time with them, etc. for that subtle reason.

I don't think it's so much a matter of like or love. People who are very similar have more conflicts. I am sure my parents loved all 6 of us but, yes, the boys did get along better with mom and at least two of the girls got along better with dad. It's just the way it is.

no, it's just their more protective.
if there is then my family is the exception,
Me and my mom couldn't be closer if we tried, beed eachother's support for about a year now.
I can't even look at my dad after what he did to my family
And i ant a daughter, so i can have the same relationship with her That my mom gave to me.
I love my mommy so much, and I think I'm going to call her.
Don't take your mom for granted, she is you, and she will understand more than a man does.

i always thought it was the other way around. i'd prefer to have daughters; boys can be pretty wild at young ages and they mature slower than girls. Evidence? My family. i've heard in the army that male soldiers are traumatized much worse when a female soldier is killed. maybe some men just have the urge to protect their daughters, especially from all the sexual influences in our society. hmmm...and then moms to boys...i've heard from mothers that they are easier to raise, as they don't get pregnant. sounds crazy to me, but i've heard it.

No...but both seem to feel the need to protect against their own sex...and make sure the partner is the dream...often not existing and every one unable to fullfil their expectations.
This is assuming the son/daughter is straight...otherwise my theory really doesnt work....
I need a daughter!
