Mesh repair tape and joint compond.

Cut the self-adhering mesh tape about 1 inch larger than the hole.

Spread an even layer of joint compound over it.
Let it dry overnight. Repeat 2 more times.
Then sand, prime, and paint.

Mesh repair tape is a simple process.

You place it over the whole, put texture (spackle) over it. Let it dry, sand it so that it's even with the rest of the well. Then if you have a texture on the surrounding wall, you'll add additional texture so that it matches. Then you paint.

If you want a perfect wall, without the appearance of a patch, you'll want to repaint the entire wall. Otherwise when you stand back and look it is, you'll see a spot that's a different color.

wal mart has a mesh patch. Its self adhesive, you just clean around the hole, press the patch on & cover with spackle. When it dries, sand it down til it's smooth & level with the rest of the wall. Then paint it. Pretty easy.

Just buy some spackle (wallboard filler compound) at your local hardware store and a putty knife. Then gradually start filling up the hole. You could stuff some waded up newspaper in it first. Eventually you might need a little sand paper. Don't worry, you can't make a mistake on this one.
