Do you have any reason not to believe her? I don't think that your height would affect how much she likes you--unless she's shallow enough to think so. But if she put that in mind, why would she tell you she loves you? I suppose it depends on how much you trust her. Considering your penpals, which is supposed to be where you can open up to someone, I think she is telling the truth. ;)
Of course, don't take this too far. There are relationships where people did get serious and there have been others where it was all a farce. Although I do not know if this is just a crush or actual love, I think that she still likes you.

There is no way to tell whether you should believe her or not with your information here. Surely you are right that women in general prefer men to be taller than them, but without knowing this woman at all I'd never assume she cares about your height. Talk with her about height and find out what she prefers about men in general...find out more about her period so you have other things to judge her about. If there was no height problems, would you still trust her with her living so far away? You need a lot more information and things you can verify such as a webcam, pictures, and phone calls...as well as seriously talking about her meeting you WITHOUT you spending all the money for these things.
She could either be just not serious enough to put her life on hold for you, or lying about many things. You seem to realize this is possible...find out more about her and see if what she says is true from more than her words.

I'm in Texas, and I'm 5'9"...what does that mean to you? Nuthin' I figure!
Write her more, send pics, and if one of you has a friend who is visiting, have that friend check the other person out to see if ok - otherwise, save up $ and one of you needs to drop by for a visit.
You need to meet then date IN PERSON before any seriousness can be believed. Sorry. My hubby was my internet buddy for 2 months when he visited. He visted me 3x, then moved to Texas from New York. After living here and dating each other for 18 months, we married. But this was AFTER he moved here and we steadily dated each other exclusively. You need to do that. You assume that her idea of love is the same for you, and it may NOT be. We have different cultures and ways to communicate. You need to move here or she to you before true dating can begin.

Just be careful of who says they love you. It could be a male instead of a female. It's a shame that we have to have our guard up in these instances. Never give out sensitive info about your family or yourself, to penpals or anyone else you're in touch with online. It doesn't pay to be too trusting in this situation.

I am 5 ft. 6 and my wife is 5 ft 11 we been married 13 yrs and have 3 kids. Size is only a problem if YOU let it be one.

NO SHE COULD BE A 50 YEAR OLD MAN FOR ALL THAT YOU KNOW unless you really know that she isn't but yeah long distante relationships really don't work so i sooo wouldn't believe her at all
