American generally departs from Terminal 3 at Heathrow airport. You can also check in online or use a self service kiost at the airport. If you need to purchase a ticket from the airline you can go to the ticket counter where you would check in - they can direct you to their ticketing office if it can not be done at the counter.
You may want to go to www.aa.com as you can avoid the 15.00 ticket fee by doing it in person
