I have a part in the school Drama Day, and I don't want to dress up as an old lady or something like that, I want to dress up as a preppy teen and tell a story about something that happened, I guess. Please Help

This is going to sound a little silly or obvious, but an excellent book that you can take a story from to do a monologue with is one of the stories in one of the books in the series "Chicken Soup For The Teenage Soul."

It is available at the public library or bookstore, and is very popular with me and my students. There's every emotion and attitude, belief and situation covered in the stories in the book, and what is good is that there are so many in there, there are plenty to choose from for the length and content that you are shooting for.

Good luck!

I agree with brainbabble. The chicken soup books are great!

But - if you have to make the story up - here is a formula you can use. I learned it in improv class - and it works everytime. Depending on how much detail you throw in - it can give you a two minute story - or a twenty minute story. Here it is...

Once upon a time.....

Everyday.....

Until one day....

So because of that.....

and because of that.....

until finally....

and ever since that day....

and the moral of the story is .....
