Right click on your desktop and go to properties and then click the settings tab. From there you're going to want to increase your resolution.
For an LCD: 1280x1024
For a CRT 1024x768
That should do it. If that's not enough, things get smaller the bigger the numbers get.

I will assume you are using Windows XP.
It sounds like your screen resolution reset.
Right click the desktop, go to Properties, and click on the Settings tab (the furthest to the right). On the left side is an area titled "Screen resolution". Increase the resolution to make things smaller on your screen.
It could be that your computer reset into a mode called "Safe Mode", where many options are disabled and the system runs in its most stable form, I think. If this is the case, then restart your system and, before Windows boots, select the "Boot in Normal Mode", or whatever seems best for you.
If this just occurred randomly, then there may be a problem with your video card. Try going to your video card manufacturer's website and look for driver updates for your computer. Drivers help your computer know how to use specific hardware - in this case your video card.

The resolution of the screen probably changed so:
Right click on the desktop, go Properties, then click on the settings tab. Then find the box that says "screen resolution" and move the slider in the "more" direction. This should make things smaller on the screen. Hope this helps...

On the desktop, right click on the screen and select "properties". Go to the "settings tab" and select the screen resoulition you want. Click "apply" if you like the size, click "OK" if not, try another untill you like it.

Click on the 'start' button then 'Control Panel' then 'appearance and themes' you can change the size of your screen layout and fonts there. You can also go back to a previous restore point and restore you old settings.
