No, you are perfectly normal.
Just remember that from the time that you wake up after the operation you will be on the road to recovery.
All behind you.
I have just returned home after cardiac bypass surgery, a very severe procedure, and that is what kept me going, knowing that I would be getting stronger each day afterwards, and knowing that I had the spring and summer to look forward to.
I greet the future with open arms, and with better health - as you will.
Best of luck.
You'll be grand!

It's not stupid to be nervous! Operations can be scary things.
Try to focus on how things will be once the surgery is over. If you'll be in the hospital for a while afterwards, or just at home recovering, plan some things to do while you are healing. Buy or rent some good books or magazines to read, or some movies to watch.
Good luck!

Believe me when I say, we are are nervous before any operation, no matter how simple the operation might be or how many we have had. It's only human nature to be nervous. But don't let it become an obsession. The operation will go better if you aren't too nervous or scared. So relax as much as you can.

Quite normal, you would'nt be human if you was'nt.
And you are definately not stupid. I've had 5 ops, and the nerves do'nt get any less.
The best thing to do is try and keep as busy as much as you can during your visit in hospital.
Listen to music, read books, do puzzles, move around and talk to other patients.
Although the nerves won't completely go away, being busy & distracted will certainly help.
Lots of luck SJCxx!!

You are not stupid. Its perfectly normal to feel nervous before an operation. I have had four and got nervous before all of them.
Just take it a step at a time and make sure you have someone there with you who you can talk to and help to keep you calm.
Hope all goes well.

no you arent stupid its natural to feel nervous and if you feel really nervous on the day ask for something to calm you down before the operation as they do give a sedative if patients are nervous.all the best with the op.

I felt the same as you did 2 yrs.ago
the absolute hardest thing about surgery is dealing with fear!! Fear is much worse than the pain. Actually you will only go thru mild pain, nothing you won't be able to deal with, they'll give you pain meds too which are fun. plus all kinds of people will visit you and lavish you with gifts. bring your own food if you can. like apple sauce--anything unopened should do, they'll keep it for you in the fridge at the nurses station
bring some stuff from home, like your favorite picture and spiritual book or something.

You wouldnt be normal if you were'nt nervous hun, its natural to be scared of the unknown, but you will be asleep ,
and when you wake, all the worry and stress will disappear, and you'll get well. You are young and resilient, so try to relax(I know its not easy)I'll say a little prayer for you,and Im damn sure you'll be fine xxx
