Is this true. If so, I had sexual intercourse with my husband on Febuary 24 2007, and we are trying for a baby. When would be the appropriate date to take the pregnancy test (First Response)? And i can not wait for my period because i have an irregular period, i get it about 2-3 times a YEAR. Yes, so I need to know if i can take it tomarrow morning. It would have been 3 weeks and a day. Please help. thank You.

sweetie i come up with tom. as being 3 weeks and 4 days past the intercourse. so if you use the first response early detection test then it should detect the hcg, how ever they do not always show it any sooner. if you go to there web site it tells you that the sooner you test the less of a % it is that the test will pick up the Hcg, but i have tested with a cheap dollar general test 4 days before my period and it showed positive then the Dr did blood work and confirmed the positive test, hope this helps and good luck

First of all, I hope you have visited your gynecologist about your irregular cycle. When you first discover you are pregnant (usually by a missed period) you are already a couple weeks pregnant...ovulation occurs around 11-15 days into your cycle, and then 10-13 days later you start your period. Providing that you had ovulated and conceived around the time of Feb 24, yes, you could be pregnant. On the other hand, in view of your irregular periods and probable irregular ovulation, you might not be. To get a definitive answer, it would be best to see your doctor for professional advice and ask for a blood test - this can determine conception within days of conceiving.
Yes, you can use the test kit tomorrow morning on your first morning void - the hormone that is measured is more plentiful. The longer you wait from the time you actually conceive, the more hormone you have, the greater the accuracy.

How soon can I test? Well, first you gotta know how the test works. Briefly: the home pregnancy test (HPT) works by detecting a hormone called human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG.) When an egg is fertilized, it takes about 6 to 12 days to implant in the uterus, and then it begins to secrete hCG. It takes another day or two for enough hCG to build up and make its way into your pee. So, generally speaking, the earliest you can expect a positive HPT is 8 days past ovulation ("DPO") and the latest would be about 16 DPO. It is possible to get a positive test earlier or later, but not as common. In my experience, if you use a sensitive "early" test (anything that detects 25 mIU/mL of hCG or less) you can test around 12-14 DPO and feel reasonably secure with your results (the later you test, the more secure you can feel in its accuracy.)

If you do not chart or monitor your fertility in any way, and you think you may have conceived, you should wait 19 days (or longer) after having sex to test. Why 19?! Sperm can live approximately 5 days in the proper environment; if the sperm managed to live until you popped an egg, the actual conception could have taken place several days after the sex act that got the sperm there. To make sure you're not testing too early, assume the sperm had very long lives (5 days is considered a very long sperm life) and that conception occurred then. Then allow 14 days for the embryo to implant and develop enough hCG to show up on a pregnancy test (96% of pregnant women will test positive by then.)

Normally a period is between 28-31 days between each other. You should be able to check for pregnancy approximately up to five days before your next period. Some of the pregnancy test claim that. So if your period started on the 10th of February, you may have an ovulation around the 24th so you should be able to test for pregnancy around the 10th of March or 5 days earlier. I was trying to conceive for 9 yrs. I went through so much testing and timing. I found the Ovulation Kit that you can purchase very helpful. I bought the $200 electronic one. It worked perfectly. But there were other circumstances that prevented me from getting pregnant without help. I had my little one IVF. You might want to check into finding a good fertility Dr to see if everything is ok with you.

Yes, tomorrow should be good enough. But you are better off using ovulation predictors. If your cycle is that irregular, you should see a doc. You should be getting a period at least 4 times per year. Your irregularity could be the cause of you not getting pregnant.

FYI, all pregnancy tests are pretty much the same.

Each pregnancy test requires a different amount of the hormone needed. Use this link to see what amount your test needs.

Most preg. tests will also show you the percentage of accurate results at what stage of your pregnancy. Such as... the test may be 45% accurate 4 days before your missed period but 97% accurate the day of your missed period. Its different for each test.

If you are taking a pregnancy test before you've missed a period, make sure to use your first morning's urine as this will have the highest concentration of the pregnancy hormone.

Good luck!

Its possible that a pg test could pick up a postiive about now. However even if you are PG you could still get a false negative if you dont have higher levels of hormones just yet.

Get a 2 or 3 pack and take them once a week for a couple weeks.
