Which do you think I should get? I'm not saying I'll go with you thoughts. I've been mainly looking at Ibanez, Gibson, Epiphone and Gretsch. You experiences are welcomed.

The last electric I had was a Gibson SG std which I had to sell - gutted.

Make, model, colour etc.

Give links if possible.

Any suggestions on 30+ watts amps - at the moment it will be a marshall combi.

Valve amp would be nice but I don't want to go silly on how much I spend. I'm sure all you guys know how easy it is to go from looking at a £200 guitar and a £100 amp to end up looking at a £1000 guitar and a £500 amp.

My first guitar was an Epiphone. I liked it until I got my own SG but I have small hands and the neck was kind of thick. I got rid of it but wish I hadn't. I currently have a Fender Strat and a Gretsch aucoustic electric that I just play unplugged most of the time. I've never played an Ibanez. Just go to your guitar shop and play them all and pick the one that feels right.

Depends how much $ you want to spend I have an Ibanez Talman semi hollow that is pretty bulletproof with a set neck. It plays nice and was only $200.00 from guitar trader 3 years ago. They don't make them anymore though. I also have an epi dot it's nice and has great tone but is not as rugged and was $650 used. I would go with Ibanez if you want somthing solid that doesn't break the bank.

Steer well away from Epiphone - they are rubbish. I have recently replaced mine because i joined a band and the sound just wasn't good enough.

I brought a Daisy Rock guitar, they are for girls but they have very thin necks which i supposed to be for 'little girly hands' but i have man hands so it just means that i can play faster than Superwoman on speed!

The craftsman ship on Daisy Rock instruments is also top quality.

Other guitars i would recommend are Fender Mustang, Jaguar, and Jagstang - but they are expensive.

i guess it depends on what you play, and whether you're going to be gigging with it? and what sort of tone do you want?

i've played and had lots of guitars... whilst the gibson's and gretsch's are good, they really aren't that much better considering the cost difference.. i'd stick to an ibanez or the epi...

and in regards to amps, are you looking for solid state or tube? i'm loving the new orange range of tube's, the tone is to die for... but really everything you've asked is down to your personal taste and style...

chose your guitar from your heart, after all, its you who's playing it!

I'd go for an Ibanez-preferably a Jem!! If not that then a Les Paul-antique burst.

Sorry I don't have a clue which would be the best guitar, maybe you should go with your gut instinct or what you can afford to buy, good luck.
