If he ran into a stationary car it's his fault, full stop. The Highway code says you should always be able to stop in the distance you can see to be clear so on the face of it he's at fault.
That said common sense also comes in, if you were parked on a bend (I realise you argue you were not) then that would be a silly thing to do and no doubt it would be taken in to consideration by an insurance company or court.

Just because your car didnt come into contact with his doesnt maen you were not involved in the accident. The law says owing to the presence of a motor vehicle on a road an accident occurs resulting in damge to another vehicle. This means that if your car was the reason for his car braking and another ran into it you are still involved and must exchange details with the other drivers or report it to a police officer as soon as practicable or within any case within 24 hours.Though it may be determined having full facts who is to blame there is not enough info here. You should have exchanged registered numbers and the name and addresses of drivers and owners of cars at scene or reported it to police if you havent and one of the other drivers does you can end up being summons for failing to report an accident.

A bit confusing. If you didn't hit anybody not likely to be your fault, unless there are 'witnesses' to say you did something dangerous. A point to remember indicating you wish to make a particular manoeuvre does not mean it is safe to do so. Nor does it absolve you of responsibility if you actually perform a manoeuvre which though legal was done in a careless manner.

I really don't know. I've heard that some gangs are causing accidents on purpose to claim the insurance and it sounds a bit dodgy to me. Strange how he had a camera all ready and the other guy backed him up. Let the police sort it out. Good luck.

It's a scam, surprised he didn't have 3 passengers in the car complaining of whiplash.
Hope you 'phoned the police and informed you're insurance company.

You didn't hit anybody and nobody hit you. You were not involved in an accident - so as long as you didn't actually witness the accident, you have nothing to do with it and you should get the heck out of there. If you're charged with anything, plea not guilty.

Sounds like this guy is a knob, don't worry about it. I don't think it was your fault and I am sure the court will say the same.

No its not your fault! did you report to the police at the time? Ring your insurance company and explain everything as well as speaking to the police. This bloke is commiting fraud and trying to scam you.

Whatever you do, do not admit any liability. let the insurance companys sort it out. Your car was not damaged. from what you are saying it sounds as though the guy wasn't paying attention.
