my snail has taken to climbing my bubbler tube column (the actual bubbler tube the one attached to the stone thingy is in a column that supports the stone), and i'm afraid he's going to either fall into the column, or climb the tube and try to get out!! the only thing i can think of to keep him from falling in is to put some sort of screen over the top of the column, but i don't think there's anything that would be safe to put in a fish tank!! what is a good idea to keep him from escaping or falling in? the only other way i can think of is to nudge him off of it, but i don't think that's too good for my snail or my fish... any suggestions?

I think I understand what you're saying here. You must have an undergravel filter. There are clear tubes that the airstones are put into to run the filter, and you're worried about your snail getting into the tube? There are tops you can buy for these that will slip over the clear tube (the air hose fits through a hole in the top) and there's a strainer where the bubbles come out so that fish and snails can't get in. You can buy these at most pet/fish stores. You can also get a piece with carbon or zeolite that fits into the bubble opening.
If your snail climbs the airline tubing, he won't go far - just to the top of the water.

Nothing is going to happen to your snail if it crawls on the air stone, a lot of snails actually like to play in the bubbles. As far as your snail climbing out of the tank, you shouldn't worry about that either. They may climb out but they shouldn't actually leave the tank, they should only climb out right above the water line, depending on what type of snail you have some lay eggs above the water line. If for some reason the snails does leave the tank it means something is wrong with the water and they are trying to get away.

You can cut a circle from a plastic lid ( like from frosting or coffee) and put it around the tube, the snail wont be able to crawl around it.

Just stick with the screen made of that mesh you can buy at the fabric store. used for puffing up dresses.
