I need to know how Poe crafted each of these pieces of his work for an American Literature paper that I am writing. Any help would be wonderful.

He crafted the three in very different ways. Murders on the Rue Morgue is what is known as a "locked room scenario" - meaning a body is discovered in a room locked from the inside with no possibility of escape for a killer. The story unfolds as you learn how the murder was committed. This was the first locked room story - and the model for many many mystery writers ever since.

He crafted Telltale Heart from the perspective of the killer - in retrospect - as the killer attempts to justify his actions. Totally different perspective.

He crafted The Raven in the form of lyric poetry

Poe actually wrote an essay abut how he crafted "The Raven". It's called "The Philosophy of Composition". Personally, I have my doubts that this is really how it happened, but you might still find it helpful.

It was simply a gift that he had. It's something you are born with. There are articles that describe him as "One of history's most original poets."
You can't learn that kind of stuff, and even if you could, it wouldn't be very good. At least i think not.

True poetry comes from the heart. It does not need a format. If you write it with a format, then it is not from the heart, and isn't as pure as it could be. Only the best can really write from the heart.

The Raven, I know was inspired by Charles Dickens, when they ate lunch together one evening. Charles was talking about how his pet died, by drinking gray paint instead of water, and it turned out that that pet was a raven. Thus the story was concocted. I hope this helps you out!

Did you know he was a drug addict? The drugs influenced his writings.
