sure. america makes a lot of cash from rice. did you know that america sells more rice than any other country? you thought it'd be china right? well their main cash crop is actually wheat. weird...

It should be. I live in FL. There are a lot of pesticides polluting the everglades due to the sugarcane crop. There was an experiment, I believe in Alabama, but I could be wrong, where instead of sugar cane, they raised rice & crayfish in the same space. They made about the same amount of money, without the pesticides, and also it was a good environment for the water birds, etc. But, the sugar companies are powerful, so they wouldn't even try it here. I planted 5 citrus trees when I first moved to FL, & the state ripped them out during the citrus canker scare. Our coconut palms have a disease, too, but since coconuts are not a major export from FL, they let them alone. Canker has spread with the subsequent hurricanes, so taking out trees was useless.
