1. Idaho is famous for its potatos, the most famous company found is the J.R. Simplot company in Idaho. Founded by J.R. Simplot, this company produces half of the potatos for all of Mcdonald's fries. The company is worth around 3 billion dollars.

2. Idaho also as the star garnet, which is their state gem. The star garnet is a very rare gem in the world only found in one other area which is India.

3. Boise, Idaho's capitol, is one of the fastest growing cities in the Northwest. It's population has jumped 20% in the past years and is slowly urbanizing into an economic powerhouse. It was ranked the best city for buissness and job growth by forbes at being #1 a few years ago.

4. Albertsons, the powerhouse grocery store chain, was founded in Boise, Idaho by Joe Albertson. The chain at one time was the biggest chain in the United States. It was recently bought out, but its headquarters still remain in Boise. It has over 1,000 stores spread accross the United States.

I dont really know any amazing facts, I grew up in Northern Idaho. In a small logging town. I had never seen a potato field until I moved to Southern Idaho, and the first actual bag of Idaho potatoes I ever seen were in Alaska.
I do know that alot of the smaller towns, are very friendly and have a slowly pace of living.
Northern Idaho has alot of Trees and Wildlife(even more than I see now in Alaska), Southern Idaho is more flat, and desserty.
I enjoyed living in Idaho, and would like to go back after my husband finishes his Air Force career here.

Idaho is a huge state, and yet has a population only around a million people. That is as many as live in several of our larger cities in the US, so in Idaho you have a lot more elbow room!

Amazing? No. I know they're famous for their potatoes. Baking potatoes as opposed to mashing.
