i am playing games like CSS and FEAR and i wanted stalker and battlefield 2 but i want a good game play experience
i am either goin to get a 2.4 core 2 duo or a 1.8 core 2 duo or anything in between what should i get considering the games i play

I personally would get the max of what you can afford. I figure that if you want to play games like you mentioned, you'll eventually want to play games that need a little more processing power, so go for what your piggybank will allow.

Personally I would rather have a faster Single Core as most things now-a-days (expect Vista) doesn't use the full ability of a duel core processor. But maybe now Vista is getting more popular they will.

PS. DON'T GET VISTA TILL SERVICE PACKS COME OUT ! ! ! ITS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH MOST THINGS. Well I'm programming and all the work which I have done will be wasted. All my geeky Friends agree that Vista is crap. XP was crap until service pack 1b came out 8months later. Its not much longer to wait to make it better, just because its newer doesn't mean its better !

try the Q6600 chip

its a intel core 2 quad

or maybe the e6700 chip

its a intel core 2 duo
