I know how to do an external. Is it the same? Any examples would be helpful! Thanks!

So I would put the address of the recipient on top? Home address? Even though it is for the ceo of the company?

I think just like everything else, the proper format for a formal letter has evolved. Your general format is correct, but everything is aligned to the left. The new format for formal letters really changed with the common use of PC's, right around the mid 1990's. My secretarial handbook at that time showed three different versions of the proper format for the formal letter, yours as the third. The one showed as the first has become the most popular -- everything left aligned. It certainly is the easiest. Best wishes.
