Working in Enchange for Rent?

Question

I will be attending school in Hawaii ( I hope to start some time this summer), but I will be really low on money. I was wondering if anyone knows of any place that will allow you work in enchange for rent or for a cheaper rent, but still pay you some to live on. Even if only on a temporary basis.

Any help would be great!

Find homes in the area that you would like to live that have work being done one them and see if the owner would trade with you.
