I am looking for a pool vac that dose not have to be attached to skimmer. Can anyone help?

The reason I ask is, the previous owner abandoned the pool, but most of the equipment (heater, pump and skimmer) seem to be functioning well. The pool company said that the part where the hose attaches to completley lost suction. Where can I find one of those portable vacs that the pool companies use?

We have a pressure side pool cleaner.. it has its own dedicated pump and the water pressure flows towards the pool cleaner ... thus using venturi effect to cause a vacuum at the cleaner itself.

The cleaner has a wide throat for collecting sticks and leaves and a pretty big storage area about a 4 gallon bucket size ... the only leaves that go to the skimmer box are those that have been drawn there off the surface of the water by the skimmer itself... so none of this gets a chance to be sent to the filter and clog it up!

The skimmer acts as suction, but you can attach a vacuum to a separate pump and circulate the water back into the pool. That just requires that you have a separate pump to provide the vacuum pressure.

Generally, they all connect to the skimmer. The idea is that the filter is the cleaner and the pump is the method to do so... oh ya, and you are the guy/gal to work the wand... I know, I have one too and it takes a bit of time... oh well. I might suggest a robotic one... go to the pool store and ask for the wee one that drives around the pool unattended! It is actually quite cool. I have seen them and seen them work... they still "plug in" to the skimmer though...

Good Luck!
