It is most likely your alternator. My firends went dead, and all it did was click when he tried to start it. Get it tested at an auto parts store, or bring it to a mechanic.

Clicking may be a loose connection in the electrical system. It also happens when a battery doesn't have enough power to crank the engine which is kinda the same thing as a loose connection because the connection is not good enough to allow the cranking. If you took off the battery was one connection too easy to remove? If not and as you say it happened when someone stole your stereo the problem is probably related. It should not cost much for a serviceman to come out and fix it. IF you try to jump start it remember the problem is still there and take the cables with you. You can also buy another battery to use to start it to drive it to a mechanic if needed

Check the battery while it is under load, if it drops under 10 volts get a new battery..... if the battery is good and it just clicks then the starter is bad.

sounds to me like there is a wire draining the battery somewhere, all it takes is 1 bad wire to ground on metal without being noticed and it will drain the battery in no time at all. i would have the wiring checked in the dash first , if nothing wrong there then have the motor electrical checked out.

possible bad battery cable , starter solinoid , or starter. I would first clean both battery cables.... and dont forget to take off the ground cable from either the engine or frame and clean this end also..... this usually gets forgotten......

It sounds like your starter is bad or you have a loose connection at the starter or battery, but it sounds like its the starter.
