Yes, Nature is preparing you for what some Midwives, very prominent and respected in their field, now call "rushes", as opposed to "contractions" which falsify and frighten the Mother's Psyche. These rushes will develop - I don't like the previous view "of getting worse". That is not a positive and encouraging enough approach. Remember, words used in Labour mean a lot. As such, they should inspire and not obscure.

HI there. The tightening you described is most likely due to Braxton-Hicks contractions. Some people refer to this as "false" labor, although I prefer to think of it as "prelabor". This means that your body is warming up for the main event. HOWEVER, Braxton-Hicks contractions usually do not come regularly, very close together, or last more than 30 seconds or so. A small percentage of women do experience painless labor. I believe that you should go on in to the hospital to be checked. Better safe than sorry.

Consider your self fortunate! I'm 38 weeks & ended up going to the clinic early this morning. I began getting contractions in my again the day gone by & they finally acquired rather near in combination. They don't seem to be the worst pains I've felt, however they squeeze so tight round my tailbone it seems like my again will snap in part! They saved me there from three-8am however the surgeon mentioned I'm 70% effaced however now not dilated in any respect!! He mentioned I might both be brought about or wait till it occurs clearly. I selected to attend given that I heard the contractions are worse if you're brought about. I nonetheless hold getting the contractions however the surgeon mentioned there is not anything I can do approximately it. I have not been capable to sleep in any respect. I believe what you defined sounds usual. I might by no means inform if its' braxton hicks or the child relocating both.

These are Braxton Hicks contractions, its a dummy run for the real thing.
I had these for a week before giving birth. I was in labour for an 2 hours with my first and an hour with my second. The midwife said it was because I had been in slow painless labour for a week.
Good luck and have a safe delivery.

I had that with my second son. I went to bed not thinking anything of it. But in fact I was in labor and I had slept through the entire thing! I would suggest to you if they are coming a 1-2 mins and if they are not stopping when you lay or sit down I would go to the hospital. Good Luck and Congrats

I'm thinking if they are painless that they are braxton hicks contractions. I've had those and they tighten and then let up.

If they happen regularly and start becoming closer together, than you know its the real deal.
If they are irregular or they stop if you get up and move around, its braxton hicks or 'practice' contractions.

yes there are such things as 'painless contractions' it is fairly normal actually, but still take precautions, when your dealing with a life, besides your own, it always pays to take precautions. is this your first child and how old are you? (nothing personal, but if you told me i could reevaluate this question and answer it more accurately) good luck and congratulations!
