I say, forget that person. Time is too precious to be wasted on something impossible or unattainable. Enjoy life while you can.

That's definitely a challenge. I use the word challenge, not issues, because they're not issues -- they're challenges. It's supposed to be something that tests you.
My suggestions are:
1. Keep in touch through email/phone/letters (some things should remain, regardless of the advancement of technology)
2. Keep a journal to maintain your feelings/thoughts -- you'll be amazed at how much this helps
3. Turn to your religion -- my religion states that God is closer to you than you are to yourself, that's comforting somehow...
Just make sure you keep yourself open to other relationships, ones where you can benefit just as much as you did from this one. Of course no other person will be just like this one, but there are others out there who can help you in ways you didn't even think of only if you put forth the interest, time, and effort to do it.
Remember a quote that I've applied to every aspect of my life, from one of the greatest teachers I've ever had, and one of the greatest in the world: "If you have a challenge, deal with it, learn from it, grow stronger for it, and move on..."

It's perfectly normal to miss that person if he/she really means a lot to you. The fact that you will probably never see one another again is just one of those unwanted cards that life sometimes deals us. On the other hand, hope springs eternal and maybe someday you will get a chance to see your loved one (or special friend) again. Best wishes to you! I know that it hurts your heart to miss someone like that. Yes, I've been there before. For me, time has helped a great deal, but I still think of him from time to time. But life goes on......

it sucked terribly when i moved away from the town i pretty much grew up in. but i kinda refused to let go communication with my friends there so i talk to them on the internet. although its not the same, you can still send letters or emails to the person. at least you know whats going on and hows the persons doing.
