I dance a lot and I've just recently taken up ballet. I really want a great arch but I'm not so sure if it's gonna happen. I can't seem to point my toes as far as all my other classmates and it HURTS so much when I try to! How can I increase the arch in my foot and when does it stop hurting? I'm open to all suggestions, however, if u dont have anything nice to say then I'd rather u just keep ur mouth shut. Please and thank you =D

Do a lot of stretches, such as sitting with your legs out in front of you, pointing your toes, and reaching out over them. To increase your arch (which is something different) stand with one foot on the side of a soup can, and roll it under your foot for a few minutes each day. Also, ask your teacher if there is something wrong in your technique - are you sicling, perhaps?

As a dancer, a really good thing to do is sit on the floor, and straighten the leg with the foot that hurts. Put the heel on the floor. Then, have someone take the toes and slowly push them down towards the floor. It will hurt at first, but it will feel better if you do it several times. This will help to elasticize the arch, making the foot easier to point.

I am a dancer, and was just having the same problem as you.
Remember: Do NOT push your arch!
Start by getting full-soled shoes, not split soled.
These will help stregthen your feet.
Also just sit on the floor with your feet in front of you and point and flex your feet.
When you point try to make your toes tuch the floor without cramping them. If your foot starts to cramp you are pushing to hard.
I wish you the Best Luck!

don't worry, i have the same problem!! the best way 2 increase your arch is 2 just keep practicing, use a thaire band && do toe flexes. if the pain is a cramping, massage your foot because it may lead 2 an even bigger problem. just remeber, not everyone's arches are the same (sorry). i really hope this helps. it's what i do.

this might sound like an particularly stupid question yet are you preserving all your toe nails very short? additionally there are some explanation why your ft are not flat. a million) Your factor shoes are not sufficiently huge. 2) your tights are not sufficiently huge and hence are scrunching up your ft. 3) you're putting in too lots padding on your ft. 4) you're scrunching your ft rather of relaxing right into a factor. 5) Your ft and ankles are no longer sturdy adequate to assist on the grounds which you have grown at the instant. My advice is first of all the main inexpensive and least puzzling suggestions first with the help of slicing your toe nails in many circumstances and then artwork your way in the direction of the checklist of a possibility motives. sturdy success and that i'm hoping this is clever. Oh and that i almost forgot to declare spend some months employing surgical spirits on your ft to harden them up for the stresses of factor artwork. yet don't be conscious to broken skin because of the fact this is going to harm and sting like hell.

I badly sprained my ankle about 3 weeks ago. I was in a hurry going down the stairs, lost my balance and landed on a bad side of my left foot, causing my left ankle to be stretched going on the inside. The first 48 hours were excruciating and the pain was un-believable. I've never had a serious ankle injury before.

So I immediately treated it using the RICE method. The following day, the bruising and swelling were so horrible. I found out that I got a second degree sprain and immediately panicked after that. I had a football game on that week and it been looking forward to it because I've been training for rt. I had teammates that had similar injuries and it took them months to fully recover, some of them stopped playing altogether. So I kinda had a short-term depression because I can't imagine myself not being able to run and play sports anymore.

Because I was so desperate to recover again, I contacted a lot of people that I know who do sports and asked them if they had similar injuries. One friend of mine, from the boy's football team in my university, told me about H.E.M. Ankle Rehab. I got a copy 4 days after I got injured. I immediately read and followed what was instructed and felt improvement on the first day. I was able to walk a bit, but I was in pain.

A couple of days after that, the swelling and bruising were subsid-ing significantly and on the fourth day, I was walking comfortably again. Although I've had felt a bit of stiffness, I continued doing what was instructed. My sister was surprised that I have recovered this fast. I told her about this book and was shocked on how effective the procedures were. I'm just so happy that this book was shared to me and how effective it is.

Heal your ankle fully & fast?

This happens to me to. I point as hard as I can but then my foot locks up.My dance teacher says to squeeze all your core muscles without straining your knees or feet.

Also on website i saw that to get a high arch for pointe shoes you are supposed to point as hard a you can and then flex your foot.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!
