The long and short of it...as good as they want to be. They were injury-stricken last year on defense as well as having Sheets out. If pitching remains healthy, they have a good chance of winning the division. New ownership is putting more money into the team, but is also remaining patient with prospects and young players. This is about as good as a small-market team can hope for because they can't buy championship teams like the Yankees have in the past. Watch Prince Fielder. He should be a 30+ HR hitter this year. They may not be talent-heavy, but they play with heart every time they take the field. That makes for a good game.

The brewers definitely will be an interesting team this year. I look at them competing with the Cubs for third.
If I had to pick a finish it would be
1. Cards
2. Stros
3. Brewers
4. Cubs
5 Reds
6. Pirates
This Brewers team has some very nice pitching and more importantly some good up and comers. In 2 years (2009) this team could very well be at the head of this division.

Every team starts the season as equals!
How its managed and how the players perform is the difference.
On a Scale of 1-10(10 is great 1 is bad) id say 6 1/2 or 7.
There young and have alot of talent. Most young teams have there ups and downs as they develop.

I see them competing with the Astros (and Cubs, if Prior stays off the DL) for second place.
To put in perspective how bad the NL Central as a whole is, the Cardinals will win the division with fewer than 85 wins.

They WILL compete this year. The were in it last year until September. The addition of Suppan, and the growth of some great young kids will make a team worth watching this year.

They will be young. If they play to their potential they can be a dangerous team. They will need Sheets to be healthy. Capuano and Suppan will both go for 15 wins this year. Maybe they will finish 3rd in the division.

The team only finished 8 games back last year. They are just as good if not better than last year.
Anything can happen.

I would say they'll finish above .500. In the NL Central, that should probably keep them in the race most of the season.
