how is a good way to make people go to a yard sale?

1. Ad in newspaper
2. Ad in events newspaper (usually seperate, like a weekly or the nickel or dollar saver)
3. Make signs and post them up
4. Make flyers and post them at laundry mats, grocery stores, local businesses around your neighborhood (be sure to get permission first).
5. If you live in a college town then make sure to post flyers at your local college/university. The college website will also have a free space for you to post online. And they will have their own newspaper you can post in.
6. I would also try googling your town name + garage sales and see if there are any websites etc... you can post on.
7. Use craigslist. It's free. www.craigslist.com
8. Email everyone in your address book, let them know so they can spread word of mouth.
9. If you have a multi-family garage sale you will get more customers. Make sure to write this on your signs, flyers, and put in newspaper (multi-family).

Look for cheap lines run in community papers. The big city or big locals cost alot. My local paper runs specials for yard sales. 2 lines, 2 days around $6. Not bad. If you have a lot of stuff to sale and want to draw a crowd , have cheap do-nuts or muffins, (day old will do.) a little marketing, like putting "like" things together will help build multiple sales. All kitchen stuff, baby stuff, music stuff together. Good luck! :)

Advertising. Put ads wherever they will let you. Grocery stores, newspapers, churches.

Also, list some of the stuff you are selling, like baby clothes, tools, furniture, etc. That way if people need these things they will be more likely to go to the sale.
