To begin, this is kind of a ridiculous question and not all teens are stupid. I will definitely agree that some are. This rant is to address what I hope is the minority of stupidity that is in today's teenage generation:
I think it is because there is no longer an era of childhood innocence anymore. Everyone is exposed to sex, drugs, alcohol etc... at a very young age. Plus the pseudo-"street culture" that seems to be the trend is not encouraging to education and becoming a moral, upright citizen. Instead it is creating a bunch of stupid, "wannabes" who do not understand the poverty hellish ordeals that shaped the behaviors that they strive to imitate.
Maybe I am just biased since I lived in So. Central LA for a period of time, but whenever I am in Suburbia in the Midwest and I see a kid throw up a gang sign at his buddies in imitation of the "cool rappers" or other emblems of street culture I just want to hit them over the head and tell them to get their as$ off the street, learn proper English, stay in school, and pull up their damn pants and make something of themselves.
ok done ranting on the stupidity of the generation that will control the world...oy....maybe lots and lots of prayer is necessary...

Stupid? I don't believe they are. I also think it's curious you know every single teen in the world because surely when making a statement about intelligence you wouldnt do something so STUPID as to generalize a whole population of people. I think this question is extremely idiotic and rude. Teens can be reckless yes but so can adults. Just as adults can be stupid! So rethink this question you asked and possibly revise it.

I know plenty of teens that are not stupid. I also know many that are not stupid BUT may have made stupid decisions at times. Adolescence is a time to "try on" various roles in life and decide the type of person you want to be and type of life you want to have. Same now as it was 30 years ago when I was a teenager. Some things in society are more common and accepted now (teen pregnancy, interracial relationships) which seems hard for me personally to understand since I was raised in a different time.

I don't think ALL teens are stupid. I think some lack common sense but same can be said about EVERY generation of teens. It just seems more prevalent now because there are far more people in the world now...

It's unfair of you to judge ALL teens. My teenage daughter is amazingly polite, respectful and caring. I cannot imagine her doing drugs, shoplifting, drinking or smoking. Some teens do not have proper guidance at home, as well. I will agree with you - some teens do make some stupid decisions. But don't adults do that sometimes as well??

because you like to listen to stereotypes of teens. people might think I'm stupid because of how i act, but put me in the same classroom as you and I'll have a hell of alot better if not the same marks as you.
There are alot of stupid teens because of peer pressure, I luckily got away from peer pressure but declining ecstasy, and from then on I just looked at other teens and thought they were stupid but i was just stroking my ego by thinking I was smarter then them all, they are just lost in peer pressure.

Not every teen is stupid. I know pretty much every student in my school, including my self, that is extremely smart, doenst drink, do drugs, etc. Just because there a some bad teens ot there, doesnt mean that we are all stupid. Please dont judge us. I bet you were judged as stupid as a teen, and hated it also. just because we arent older, doesnt necesarily mean anything.

I don't know. There is a kid that works at the same job as my husband who really thought that a 16oz Gatorade didn't fit into a 16oz cup. And that a ton of bricks weighs more then a ton of feathers. He thought that the person who lost the presidential election became vice-president.
He is a HS graduate and in college now.

Just because you see a couple of teenagers doing a hidious act doesn't automatically make everyone within the ages of 13-19 an absolute idoit. Stop generalizing like that, it makes YOU look stupid everytime you do it. I'm willing to bet there are teenagers that are smarter than you, just as there are teenagers dumber than you. Don't assume someone is stupid just because of their age, you will be very wrong MOST of the time.

Teens nowadays are so 'stupid' because of you people asking why we're so stupid! We're spiteful! Weren't you a teen once too? I'm not stuipd! My GPA is 97.56. The vast majority of us don't do drugs or cut ourselves or whatever, you know! One bad apple can ruin the rest.
