done a speed test results - (21:36 20/03/2007): Download Speed: 764 kbps (95.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 378 kbps (47.3 KB/sec transfer rate). my line can hold 6.5 my computer running really slow. bt are a nightmare trying to get help, can you? done the basics i.e delete cookies reboot etc.

Your question being? Is your operating system running slowly? Which operating system do you have? Are you saying you aren't getting the transfer speed you require? What is your contention ratio? What do you mean your line "can hold 6.5"? Do you mean you've purchased an internet connection the provides speeds up to 6.5 Mbps? Note the key words there - up to. Where are you downloading from? How do you know the problem isn't at the remote end? If you're running a speed test from a site in the US and you're in the UK, then it isn't going to be all that reliable...

Too many p2p downloads? Too many freeware downloads? What did you think would happen? Nothin is free! Find some virus and spyware removal tools and shut down half a dozen messengers!

Check your security software it at times slows down the downloads...

If you have 1Mb ADSL then that's not really all that bad, not good but not all that bad. Have you done a scan for spyware/malware?

Look at your task manager and see if you are using more memory (ram) then you actually have. Usually that is the problem.
