I'd say it's puberty. Some girls discharge quite heavily for even a year of more before a period may start. As far body odor goes, you're doing the right thing by encouraging good hygiene and teaching her. Just be sure to continue doing this in an encouraging way, as it can be a seemingly offensive and touchy subject for some people.
Being overweight can attribute to excess sweat, which in turn can contribute to extra BO. Honestly though, this is something that body chemistry has more to do with. It came on me very young, and I had to start dealing with BO around the age of ten, more than two years before I started my period.
It's hard to say how soon she'll get her period, but I'd say you're definitely seeing signs of puberty in her.

It could be vaginal discharge, which can occur as early as 6 months to a year before she gets her first period. Normal discharge should have a slight odor and should never cause itching or burning. Problems like itching, a strong odor, or a change in color (such as brown, gray, or green) indicate that a girl may have a vaginal infection and needs to see a doctor.
Deoderant and perfume can be useful for the rest of your body, but soap and water should do the trick when it comes to feminine hygiene. It's a sensitive subject for young girls (or anyone for that matter), but I think you are keeping her best interest at heart if you address the issue in a gentle and understanding way. Good Luck!

When she is emitting a clear discharge, that means that some time within 3 weeks to 2 months she will start her period. And about the overweight thing, (1) it may still be baby fat, I still had mine in 6th grade, (2) maybe she should exercise more, or (3) maybe she is stressed and needs to relax, that can make kids gain exponential amounts of weight. Hope this helps!

She may not eat much, but she is probly not exercising as much as she should. Or it could be her baby fat that she will lose. get her to join sports. If she is getting like a discharge type thing and you see that she is growing breasts, she is probly going threw puberty. Most girls start between 9-16. If she is overweight by 25 though deffintialy have her start sports or going to a family gym? There is also a book by ameriacan girl that descripes the changes in the body.goodluck.

She is going through puberty. Sit her down just the two of you and talk to her gently about the issue, its a very sensitive subject for young girls. Ask her if she is beginning to see hair under her arms, thats your first sign, also the discharge is a way of preparing her body for her period, alot of women get this discharge for many years, its her body's way of cleaning itself, if shes beginning to smell toward the end of the day, just remind her that shes growing up and has more responsibilities now and one of them is making sure she takes care of her body. Tell her its a very ackward and exciting time in her life, (you have to make it sound like its not something to worry about but rather something to be excited about, otherwise she won't do it) and its important to apply deo. everyday and spritz herself with perfume, try girly stuff like britney spears or victoria secret spray, its inexpensive and smells good. Get her a really fruity deo. like teen spirit, get shampoo that smells really good, like suave in passion fruit, and body wash that smells like apples. Anything fruity and smells good to her will excite her about using the products. Once you've noticed that shes used them, tell her how great she smells and even looks, it will ensure that she continues to use them until it becomes a habit. The hardest part is not understanding what her body is going through, but how to excite her into using the right stuff for her body. the weight issue isn't a big deal, its probably still baby fat, and she'll lose it soon, it shouldn't make a difference on her puberty. Good Luck. Hope it helps!

Obesity has nothing to do with early puberty. Even if she lost the weight, she would still hit puberty early. Discharge is a normal sign, and so does is the odiferous smell from the underarms. All you can do is encourage the good hygiene. Do not criticize her or her mother because it will cause her to be more secretive to you and her father.

First of all, get her to be more active. Take her to play tennis at the park, go on a walk, ride bikes, go ice skating, swimming, whatever. Being overweight can cause serious problems and if she is overweight as a teen, the chances of her being an overweight adult increase tremendously. Also, try to have her eat right when she is at your house. I can't say much about anything else, but she seems to take your advice, so...

This is all normal. You have to grow "out" to grow up. The weight gain is a sign that she will be entering a growthspurt soon. The body odor is part of the first stage. Have her check out this site:
www.beinggirl.com
Its a child safe site, and should answer any questions you both have.

you will likely initiate your era sometime this year. there is not any precise technological information to declare while this is going to happen. merely hold close in there! save and eye out for a sparkling slippery discharge that looks like eggwhites. this is a demonstration of ovulation and your era might desire to start 12-sixteen days after this occurs.
