very rarely do people remain friends with their ex. It's very admirable for those who do remain friends after having a relationship.

I have maintained a friendship with one of my ex's, but its not the same. My ex and I were really close in high school (friendship close), but now since we became ex's we try to still be friends but its hard. Maintained friendships with an ex is a good and bad thing, some people could become best friends with their ex's and some can't. I guess if you really try to be friends with them then it will work but it has to come from both directions, not just one sided.

I've maintained good friendships with 2 of my Ex's... One from high school, and one that is my son's father. One was an amicable split, and I attended his wedding years later. My son's dad, that took a lot of work (trying to be good parents) and just changed into a friendship over time. Now we are happy with how things are as friends, and in our separate relationships.

Actually, yes to both. I, and my current boyfriend are very good friends with one of my ex's. I also attended the wedding of another one of my ex's. It is totally possible to become friends, both just have to allow the pain or hurt to subside before attempting a friendship. I was also roommates with my boyfriend's ex for a while too. If you're mature, and they're mature and no one is out to sabotage the current relationship or trying to get back the relationship with you, it can indeed work.

YES!! Once I got over the love thing I realized she didn't win I did by getting rid of his sorry butt. I mean we are still very close to the point of weekly calls but it's loud and clear I don't want him. After about 16 years she dumped him too and talks to him even less than I do. About all we have in common is cooking and adult kids but it's fun having someone around that shares a a time in life with to reflect on with.

The closest friends I have are exes, which can be an issue for my current, but she trusts me and I trust her.
I only feel strange when my gf gets all nasty about it, but then I point to her exes that are good friends and I would never make her not see a friend, if she is going to cheat on me, that is her bad, not mine, I can't control her.

I know my husband is friends with the girl he dated right before me. I've talked to her quite a few times. I helped her with some of her wedding questions when she got married and am taking my toddler to the Gymboree she works at for classes.
She and I get along and don't have any issues (that I'm aware of). Her husband seems to be bothered by my husband.

i was going out with this guy until he dumped me because i 'wasn't hot enough'.
that was 2 years ago, and just a few monthes ago, one of my friends started to like him. he liked her, and then they went out for a little while.
i had felt betrayed, and i started to hate her. but then, i saw the error of my ways and we became friends again. they were still going out, so i guess you could say that we became friends.
no i didn't feel strange because by then i hated him, and had gotten over him.

with all but 2 of them, they just couldn't take a joke , i guess. the ones that i do talk to , we've gotten closer and more like best friends now. don't hate , it was an experience that you had in your life.
