What are some good websites and resources that debate the question, "Does capitalism make kids behave badly?"?
I am doing a paper on the effects of capitalism on a society and how it affects kids and adults behavior-wise. I thought of this topic, but am not sure if there are any good resources for it.
Thank you for answering!

Actually if properly used, capitalism can make your children behave much better, because they understand the value of the dollar and they learn discipline for saving and earning.

Most children are brought up as communists or fascists by capitalist parents who never teach their kids about money, so the kids think the money from their parents grows on trees.

If you pull articles about teaching children about money, you will find a lot of good information.

I don't have many resources for you but here is what i think:
The constant battle is between "communism" (broadest definition) and capitalism. The problem with communism is that it doesn't reward hard work or spur production. There is no incentive to "get ahead". It does not reward those who produce or contribute at a higher level than others. Eventually this results in the collapse of economy. The problem with pure capitalism is that it punishes those who unable to produce or those less gifted. Also modern capitalism forces people to sacrifice there own self interest in the interest of capitalisms measuring stick of success: money. Since boundless wealth is something nearly unattainable everybody is scrambling to accumulate more wealth. Also contrary to the moral laws of the first world, natural law dictates that not all (wo)men are created equal. "Rights" are a creation of man.
Over extended periods of time this means that a select gifted few will ultimately end up with all the money. This is demonstrated by the ever-shrinking middle class. To help prevent this most governments have implemented methods of the forced redistribution of wealth in the form of higher tax rates for high income earners, a minimum wage, and welfare programs.

So does capitalism make kids behave badly? Badly in who's eyes? If your suggesting we are instilling greed and consumerism into are children then you may be right. However a pure capitalist would laud those qualities as ambition and a will to drive the economy. In perfect capitalism money is simply a product of productivity. You cannot make money without providing value to somebody. I think you are asking if we instill these qualities to the detriment of other humane qualities. There is no doubt that capitalism is elitist. Those less gifted suffer because they are physically unable to contribute at the same level as others. This brews resentment and anger from the lower class. This is where the conflict arises. Communism ultimately makes everybody poor. Pure Capitalism makes all but a few poor. However capitalism is forced to maintain some wealth for the lower class because it is they that drive the economy.

I am now realising that i have in no way answered your question so i will stop here.

I don't
