Avatars do say a bit about personality, albeit not everything by a long shot. That said, Yahoo's mucking about and not letting me display the avatar I want to use (from my 360), so I've been forced to put the Bratz doll thingy back on my profile. It's marginally better than that nondescript silhouette, I suppose. (You should be seeing a skeleton, with the skull stuck in the pelvis.)
