Do you really think its that easy 2 go out and get a job with a private rented house (£110 a week) 2 kids, £20 a week busfares for school, school dinners, uniforms, food, bills etc?? I went for a part time job and by the time the welfare benefits had worked it all out, i'd be working for £3 a week!

If they gave me a council house i would go to work gladly and stop people like you slagging other people off. BUT they dont just throw council houses at you as there is a shortage of housing. I used to work but lived in a sh!t hole housing estate and my house was constantly broken into (couldn't afford insurance) Do you have kids and a partner? maybe one day you'll split from your partner and struggle and you will NEED to claim benefits just to get by. We are not all scroungers!

I'm guessing you read the Daily Mail.
I was unemployed for seven months last year. I sent off around three hundred applications to employers all across the country and attended around fifty interviews. I claimed Jobseekers allowance which is £57/week. I had a bank loan of £161/month for having done a Masters Degree and £29/month. I had around £20/month left over, which is better than nothing I suppose (but not by much).
I'm now in full time employment, and I pay my taxes some of whihc no doubt go to other people on jobseekers allowance. Some of it probably goes on the military as well, which I don't agree with because I'm a pacifist. Why my pocket for this?

Job Seekers Allowance isn't the worst rip off. Many genuine people who find themselves out of work need it to tide them over (which it doesn't anyway) until they get a new job.

It's most of the other benefits that get used and abused way too easily.

Of course we are, we always have done in one way or another. We pay for just about everything. Public services / benefits are not dished out for free by a kind hearted government.

Yes we do. I don't mind if the need is genuine. It's the scroungers that tick me off. It's a price you pay for living in a welfare state. Childless people helped fund your education out of their taxes.

It is a bit more complicated than that. . .

If we pay for them to get a job, then they will be able to get a job and become taxpayers themselves, thus removing them from the pubic dole.

If we don't, then they will never get a job and we will pay for them forever. . .
