there are 2 things going on with that site!

1) http://laits.utexas.edu/fi/html/voc/08.html

shows me that javascript (on the mouseover of the icon) is required to do the click on the audio button. The authors of the pages have sloppily left the URL javascript: visible to users.

2) the entire site requires quicktime. http://apple.com/quicktime

3) of course you need speakers or an internal speaker!

You don't need java! Javascript is built in to the browser. it's usually on by default!

I assume you have speakers, etc. installed and are able to hear sounds from the PC normally?

If so, contact the admins at utexas and ask about their web pages - specifically as it relates to the Java error.

My guess is they either have a bug in their page or maybe you have your permissions too restrictive in IE for this domain.

If you trust the site, you could always add them to the trusted domain in IE (Tools, Internet Options, Security) and see if that fixes it.

Sounds like your audio driving force is both disabled or lacking. Do this: Go in your Start button, cross in your Control Panel, choose System. On the Hardware tab, choose "Device Manager". There must be an expandable choice referred to as "Sound, Video, and Game Controllers". If there may be, develop that, and navigate in your Audio driving force (it would be a kind of distinctive varieties/manufacturers, so I can't title it right here). Right click on it, decide on Properties, and it's going to show its fame for you. You too can decide on to allow/disable it. IF you do not see your driving force or the Sound/Video/GameController menu, then your driving force is in most cases lacking/uninstalled. You'll ought to reinstall it, which will also be performed out of your PCs corporation internet site (for illustration, both Dell/HP/Toshiba/and many others. web sites) It must be a quite convenient, step-by-step procedure to put in the driving force.

What you need is quicktime. If you have it then it has to be updated. Go to ww.download.com to find the newest quicktime. Try that and see if it works.
